AMT is the most prestigious tennis event in Latin America. The tournament has evolved through time. In 1993, the first edition was held in Mexico City, and eights years later it was moved to Acapulco, Guerrero.  From the first time in Acapulco (2001) to present, the tournament has always been celebrated. ​

Acapulco has passed through difficult times, in 2023 the hurricane Otis devastated the city. Despite the destruction, the tournament organization decided to celebrate the coming edition and trusted in people efforts, resilience, empathy, and solidarity.
